TheElvenking of Mirkwood forest is a distant "relative" to the elves of Rivendell. He captures the dwarves after they fall for their illusions in the forest. Bilbo is the only one left becuase of his magic ring that makes the wearer invisible. Over months of touring the kings home, he finds where his friends are being kept and brings food to the dwarves which are being kept separatley in prison cells while they wait. During one of his daily tours, Bilbo overhears some of the elves talking about how the empty wine barrels are released down the river to a town (near the Lonely Mountain). He devises a plan to steal the keys to the prison "cells" and puts the dwarves in the empty wine barrels. Bilbo then holds onto one of the barrels(with his magic ring on) and travels down the river.
The mayor of the town welcomes Thorin and his companions. Thorin states that he is the heir of Dorin, come back to reclaim his stolen treasure. The people start singing and telling the songs and tales of old. During their stay, elves from the forest of Mirkwood come and declare that the dwarves were the prisoners that had run away. They step back once they find out that Thorin is the heir to the treasure lost in the Lonely Mountain. The mayor of the town provides the dwarves with ponies and supplies. On their way..........................
